Aorangi School Strategic and Annual Planning

This Annual Plan was developed in late 2024 when I was announced the new Principal of Aorangi School. The interim principal decided it was better for me to develop the Annual Plan so that the years work is mine and not someone else's. 

It was a difficult task as I didn't know the school that well and the previous principal hadn't documented progressions and outcomes for the previous years based on his Strategic Plan. The interim principal had provided the outcomes for 2024 but they were for achievement only, no other goals were included.  

The Annual Plan for 2025 has been developed directly from a copy of 'a' Strategic Plan but prioritising aspects involving learning and progress, behaviour and wellbeing, and environment. It was developed with initial brainstorming and collaboration from 2 SLT members.

The Annual Plan for 2026 was a lot easier to develop having been in the position now for a year. What made it slightly easier was the fact that the Ministry of Education were making drastic changes to curriculum, assessment and reporting therefore, pushing the 3 year Strategic Plan Cycle out by another year. This allowed me to develop the annual plan based on the previous Strategic Plan and making small adaptions that were becoming priorities in the school along the way.
